When no one else is around, and there's nothing else going on, Wells IS actually sweet to his sister (as a last resort, I suppose). He showers her with his silliness:
Here he is talking to her about Calliou (he told me this morning that it is her favorite show)
Then there's this trick - last night I caught him using his "noculars" (aka binoculars but really we are just talking about a head lamp with a really bright light) to go check on her....
....while she was sound asleep.
His work here is done - Caroline is awake :)
He's always looking for things to check out in the dark - he loves this headlamp and has been wearing it to bed (we have to go turn the light off once he's asleep).

Playground
It's been a fun week with camp, playgroups, swim lessons, etc. However, all I managed to capture on camera was a playdate Wells & Liza had today.
Lots of fun on the swings:
After we woke up C from her nap to rush to the playgroud, Wells called a mandatory stop at the Circle K (during which he spent 30 minutes roaming the gas station trying decide on the perfect color Icee and best candy to take to his gf Liza). This made Caroline over an hour late on her bottle, but his sweet sister didn't mind. And didn't object to being stuck in the hot stroller to watch him play.

Family Pool Days
Our window for spending afternoons at the pool is coming to a close. Wells LOVES the pool and is always happy to go.
Daddy will sometimes meet us there after work. Wells loves these evenings because he knows he will get lots of "big pool" time with his dad. W will swim, jump, and play until he's exhausted.
He also loves seeing his friends there - Carter, Lawson, Judd, and James are there on a regular basis.
Here he is doing "noodle wars" with Carter one afternoon
Caroline is always along for the ride
Poor thing is hot and sweating, but always smiling
Most afternoon/evenings at the pool, we order him dinner from the snack bar (grilled cheese and apples is a popular choice) and then shower him off so that when we leave he is ready for bed.
Wearing his PJs, on the way home with a fruit roll up
While we are ready for school to start and having a routine again, we'll miss the lazy afternoons of summer!

6 months old
Caroline is 6 months old today!
6 Month Stats:
Weight: 19 lbs, 12 oz (95th percentile)
Length: 28 inches (97th percentile)
Head Circumference: 43.75 cm (78th percentile)
Caroline, we love you so much. Our lives became infinitely better the day you entered this world. You are the cutest, smiley baby I've ever known. You watch your brother's every move and laugh out loud at his silly antics.
In your first 6 months, you've learned to roll over, reach for and play with toys, and are working on your sitting skills (getting closer to sitting up on your own). Aside from being hungry or tired, the only time you cry is when we put you down. You LOVE to be held (almost all the time). You eat a mixture of rice cereal and vegetables/fruits every day and have learned to love it. You go to bed early, and wake up early. The waking is hard sometimes, but it allows me to cuddle in bed with you for an hour or two and I wouldn't trade that time for the world. Some of my favorite features of yours are the dimple on your left cheek when you smile, your long slender fingers, and your fuzzy head of hair (which is now mostly blonde).
You adapt to whatever we are doing and wherever we are going, and usually smile your way through the day. I adore your sweet little disposition and love that you bring happiness to everyone you encounter.
Happy 1/2 Birthday! We love you so very much!

Beachin' It
We had such a great time on our trip to the beach with the Hartzogs. My friend Liz's mom might be the best hostess ever - she has had us to their lovely beach house for several years in a row. She also helps with our kids & makes the most amazing dinners (Matt looks forward to her steampot all year long) - we could not have asked for a better trip!

Please Stop Growing!
Our baby Caroline is almost 6 months old, and I sometimes look at her and want time to stand still so she doesn't get any bigger.
Sweet LCH, 5 1/2 months old:
Loving her playmat:
Wells always calls her "Miss Priss" - I think she meets the description here with her cute crossed legs:

Bowling!
We are trying to beat the record breaking heat in Charlotte (literally 100 degrees +) by finding some new, fun indoor activities for W. Our friends Connor & Lawson were going bowling this afternoon at the bowling alley near our house. We decided to join them and W had so much fun! We played two games, and he scored a 58 both times :)
...and he waited in such anticipation!! STRIKE!
Using the 6 pounder
Thank goodness for this ramp contraption
He would put the ball down and run away! I told him it was looking good on this one...
