April Showers

Yesterday we had an impromptu playdate with some of the neighborhood boys.  They were in the Simmons' backyard playing and it started raining - but instead of running for cover they found umbrellas and had so much fun playing in the rain!

Easter Joy

In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ.  (1 Peter 1:3)

It's Easter Sunday and we have so much to be thankful for.  It feels like a new beginning around here!

Of course the Bunny came first thing - and Wells was very excited!

And since everyone was finally healthy, we all were able to hit the road and celebrate with Matt's family in Gastonia.

I loved getting sweet Caroline dressed (she has on her Aunt Laurel's shoes from when she was a baby:)

Baskets & Bunnies

Everyone finally seems to be feeling a little bit better around here.  But we knew it was going to be a long weekend due to all the sickness, so we called in reinforcements and thankfully GG was quickly here to assist.  Today she took care of Caroline for a few hours while Matt & I took Wells to a fun Easter egg hunt at Carson's house.

Egg hunting

They even had live bunnies!

We made Daddy go check them out.

Wells of course did not want to get too close...

...he did, however, want to get close to the treat table.

Spring "Break"

Spring break has proven to be not so much of a break for Mom & Dad.  Preschools and all activities are off this week -  but the worst part has been that BOTH kids got hit with the stomach bug!  Wells first, over the weekend, and just as he was feeling better, sweet Caroline got it.

First signs of improvement for W were mid-week when he asked for a popsicle (the first thing he'd eaten in several days):

And then poor Caroline - this one KILLS me.  I can't stand to see her sick.

Spring break is definitely not what it used to be.  So much for a vacation somewhere with palm trees, pools, and fruity drinks.  Instead, we were quarantined at home with 2 sick kids and lots of Pedialyte.

But I wouldn't trade it for the world :)  And just as Easter weekend approaches, everyone seems to be feeling better - hooray!

First Smiles

Caroline just recently started to give us real, responsive smiles and laughter...and it is the sweetest thing ever!

Dinner Date

Wells had his friend Sophia over for a dinner date on Thursday:

It's watermelon season - horray!

I think they are giving each other a kiss with their grapes (?) - these two are SILLY.

The Hunt is On

Easter egg hunts started this week - and Wells is having so much fun!

On Monday, he had his class egg hunt in the Christ Church garden:

They're off!

Hunting

Success!  All 6 eggs collected in the basket he made.

Class Shot (L to R):  Oliver, Kate W, Madison, Wesley, Will Vollinger, Kate B, Owen, Wells, and Til

And then today we went to the YWBS hunt:

All the kids ready to go

W collected tons of eggs (the organizers did such a good job hiding them - some were tough to find!)

All the little girls loved talking to/sitting with the Easter bunny.  But not Wells - he was much more interested in this game of cornhole...

...and the treat table.

Here's the one shot we got with the bunny

Spring Festivals

This weekend the spring festivals were in full swing in Charlotte!

On Saturday GG kept Caroline while Mommy & Daddy took Wells on a solo outing to the MP Methodist Church Festival.

Then today, Daddy got some well-deserved quiet time with Caroline to watch golf while Mommy & Wells went to Kids in Motion with Liz & Will

And last but not least, I came home to Matt & Caroline watching the Masters in these themed/matching outfits (never mind that her dad put her in a 2T polo - on loan from a friend - and she is 7 weeks old:).   Regardless, I thought it was so sweet and a very blog-worthy pic!

Ice Cream Outing

Today was a no-nap Friday, so since it was warm outside, we decided to walk up to Yoforia for some ice cream.

Moved into the double Bob

W with his chocolate conglomeration (toppings include Captain Crunch, M&Ms, chocolate chips, gummy bears and graham crackers)

Caroline along for the ride

She'll take her paci over the ice cream

We have to be sure to bring along plenty of coins for "wishes" in the fountain
